As the economy is trending south, more and more people are interested in finances for more aspects of their lives. Business talk radio is following this trend as well. Instead of business radio talking about the major companies, and tips to starting and running small businesses. Talk radio is focusing more on personal finance. Why is this.
People in a down economy are more concerned about life six months down the road. People are no longer sure that their portfolios are going to be secure in 30 years. So people want to explore other options. Some people who were on top of the world five years ago, are barely scraping by now.You can find a quick rundown here People are worried and scared, they want to know what to do. People want advice on finances.
This is where talk radio comes into play. A soothing voice, giving personal finance tips, helps people think that they can build up the savings, and they can make it through. Also people care more about finance from personal finance to large finance. Every bank that wobbles is effecting the markets, which is effecting the price of every day life. People want to hear about finance more than about business. Simply because talking about finance will help everyone make sense of what is going on. Business strategies are not as important as learning how to make a budget on a lower income, or how to save money on that vacation. Advertisers know this, and they are willing to pay for these programs. This is because they know people will listen, and when people listen to the program itself they listen to they listen to the commercials that the advertisers buy.
As long as we have a shaky economy financial programs will be popular. This can be a very good thing. Financial programs give good advice.

The Local Talk Radio- Greenwich, CT-

There are a number of opinions concerning finance and our economy, and who would know better in Connecticut than the good folks in Greenwich?! If you tune in to talk radio station 1490 AM (WGCH) you can listen to fast, up-to-date coverage of some of the most important events in today’s news. You can also get thoughts and suggestions from some of the greatest to be heard on radio stations everywhere!

Recently, on May 20th, 2011, Sen. Frantz said that we should begin looking at ways that local legislators can expand potential industries for those who are seeking employment in CT. This pertains to most of the country, and should be heard worldwide! Some great tips on promoting business in the northeast and New England are things like advertisement, but some better ones are things like listening to those who know what they are talking about. Bring a cup of coffee for the Wall Street Journal at five o’clock in the morning. Stu Taylor, a leading host on business tips and finance, has a show in the radio station’s program during the weekdays. It’s great!

In recent times the talk radio has seen an immense popularity in the masses. It has been observed that people take great interest in this new arrangement and why not as I have noticed that it is only the people’s participation through live phone calls which provides these shows wide acclamation. Obviously there is also an opportunity for the common men to have a direct interaction with some dignitaries.

Besides that, the selection of burning topics, presence of most wanted personalities at the show and the attitude of the host will all jointly work to lift the ratings of the show and pull the listeners towards the radio program. Upon listening plenty of talk radio shows, it has been disclosed on me that mostly these shows revolves around business, sports, politics and financial and other current issues. To maintain the interest, they divide the show into segments by putting commercial breaks or by playing different songs.

It is of great interest for all of you that in United States the pioneers of this medium are none other than personalities like Berry Gray, Alan Burke, Joe Pyne, Long John Nebel and lot more. It actually started in 1945 when Berry Gray spoke on phone while placing it with microphone with the band leader Woody Herman. Within no time, this format then started using for political, business and other commercial purposes.

With the passage of time, most of the talk radios are now available online as well. Some of the popular talk radio in recent times that covers business topics are Ask Janelle Radio, American Underdog Radio, Build Your Business Radio, Business Networking Radio, Its About Money Radio, The CEO Hour and many more. With advantages like getting instant public feedback and easy and cost friendly promotion of products, services, ideas and views, talk radio is growing in fame with every day. What’s 1 more click? Your boss isn’t watching… Rush Limbaugh and Right Wing Talk Radio Flame Out As Listeners Tune To Independents – The Daily Beast
